Opinions?

So my boyfriend is a type 1 diabetic, and ofcourse I told my parents, but I wasn't expecting them to hurt my feelings about it. My father says to me " I heard you're with a diabetic" I responded yes and he starts asking If I'm going to marry him and if we're going to have children and if I'm going to be a nurse. I said I don't know ( I mean I'm 19 he's 20, we're not worried about that rn) and then he says " It's so unfortunate that I don't have smart children ". Yeah I understand the disadvantages of being with someone with a certain type of illness, but really?? Don't try to make me feel terrible because I made the decision to be with a diabetic. I love him for him.
