Thoughts on different fertility

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15, in 34 now & my hubby & I are TTC. I was married previously in my early 20's and we tried then, I was on Clomid & Metformin, my husband then was never home, truck driver only home every 2 weeks for a couple nights then gone. Fast forward like 13 years and here I am with my 2nd husband who is home every night, we see the specialist on the 19th....however, my ob/gyn said not to waste a bunch of time on fertility pills if they don't work within a few months cuz age is a factor. I took myself off metformin a year ago cuz it made me so sick & I never felt good, like ever. I started an amazing supplement program that's all natural & I have never felt better & my lab work has finally come back normal for the first time in 12 years!!! Everything in normal ranges! So...that being said, I'm hoping this time around we will have a better chance of conceiving but my question is, according to the app my period should start this week, today actually but it didn't, which I'm not surprised cuz I just came off birth control May 31st. Had light spotting about a week after that for 3 days then nothing.  We baby danced a couple times a day during my fertile days, took 2 tests both with very faint lines so I assume negative. I should've started my last period 2 days later than when it came but I screwed up my pack of pills so I figure since I just came off then my period may take a minute to regulate itself, if I actually ovulate before seeing the specialist to get on some type of fertility. So which do you all prefer to be on? What's has worked? Clomid/Metformin combo? I heard there's another pill out there not sure the name? What comes after the pills if they don't work? Shots? I mean I'll be 35 in August so we aren't messing around, we would go right to IVF but I want to give us the chance of conceiving easier than going through all of that. Any thoughts?!
