I don't understand how one simple thing can ruin the lives of so many. You take advantage of someone's weakness. You find a tiny hole in someone's soul and you borrow your way into their heart and their mind like a leech. You make them think you are the only thing they need in life. You become their mother. Their father. Their sister and brother. Their job. Their home. Their food, water, sleep, their thoughts. You completely change them. You form them into the person you want them to be. You build walls between your host and their loved ones. Heroin, you are the one controlling them like someone controlling a robot.

My brother...I am sorry I did not understand. I wish I could take back all of the months, weeks, days and hours I shut you out and ignored you. I mourned your inevitable death years before it actually happened. I refused to listen to anyone who was telling me anything about you. I was hurt. I was mad. I knew how to push your buttons. I did it because I knew how mad it made you and I wanted you to feel the anger I felt when you stole from mom and dad. When you hurt our family over and over again. I am so sorry. You are one of the kindest smartest guys I have ever met. You were always there for me and I wish I could have been there for you. I want you to know how much I love you and I would give up everything to hug you just once more. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I still think I see you places...the gas station, grocery store, at a red light. Then I do a double take and it is not you. I stil go to call you or text you but I can't.

I wish there was a cure for addiction. I know it isn't that easy. Every time I hear the song Free Bird I think of you....I feel like you left this world for a reason, because there's to many places you've got to see. This works wasn't ready for someone like you.
