pregnancy and painful speculum exams
So this may or may not be TMI but I'm going to preface this with DH is terrified to have sex because we miscarried immediately before we got pregnant this time around so we haven't had sex since I was 7weeks pregnant, before our first ultrasound. Here I am 32 weeks on Sunday and we haven't had sex since. Which is fine I understand he's just scared we'll miscarry again and wants to wait so that's not a problem. I've never made it this far in a pregnancy so I was wondering if speculum exams being so painful I end up in tears crying and cussing is normal in pregnancy? I've heard it can be because the cervix moves as the pregnancy progresses but didn't know if it was common? I was curious if there was any correlation with us not having sex literally this entire pregnancy or what because the Drs start questioning me "have you ever had exams be that painful?" and seem surprised. They act like it shouldn't be that painful but I know someone on pelvic rest that it hurts them as well. Those exams aren't comfortable but I've never cried and been in that much pain with them until I got pregnant. Any advice?
EDITED TO ADD for Keda: like I said, he's nervous and I can't convince him otherwise so a dr hasn't told us no it's our previous miscarriage preventing it from happening which is totally understandable. During labor you get drugs, during speculum exams you do not. It is natural for a baby to be in your body. it is not natural for a metal speculum to be in you. The two can't compare. 🤷♀️
