Do you get mad if you don't know someone else's baby's name before they're born?

Question

I only ask this because I'm not relatively close with people anymore after I had my first son and his father and I split. I got remarried to the perfect man who stays away from all the people we used to hang out with (thankfully) and we're having our little girl in September. We've told family and very few friends (that we still actually talk to) the baby's name.

But I have been hounded by other women either in mother groups on Facebook that I don't know/barely know or people who I used to be aquatinted with but weren't friends by any means. And usually I would just chalk the attitude up to me misreading but these people are straight up offended I won't give it up. It's gotten to the point where I just tell them, "we're waiting until we see her to see what comes to us". I don't understand why other people feel entitled to know something personal to us until she gets here.

Now, on the other hand I'm sure there are a lot of people who wonder why I'm withholding it. When I named my son I told a lot of people and next thing I knew a girl who had a lot of mutual aquatintances/friends at the time took the first name (FIRST AND MIDDLE) I chose. And I just thought it was the rudest thing ever so we decided keeping it to ourselves is best.

Why would i get mad? It's not my kid, I'm not entitled to know the name. I'm not entitled to even know the gender or that you're expecting. People can throw a fit if they want. They'll get over it.

I'm not telling anyone my names. I've said them on here but none of my family or friends are on here (except a girl I met but she's having a girl and has announced her name already). No one will know the name until the birth certificate is signed and official. That way no one can try talking me out of it. My boyfriend likes them and our opinions are the only ones that matter.

This is the exact reason I've never made and will not make a pregnancy or birth announcement on Facebook or any other social media: not only privacy but PEOPLE BE CRAZY!!!

I think with all of today's technology we already know the gender before birth, we have 3D ultrasounds so we can see better what our child will look like... Our lives are so public via social media when we choose it to be (some more than others) that I think withholding your baby's name is a good choice. There are very few surprises left in this world and I think you are making a great decision for your family. Because it's what you want to do!! If you want to share your name that's great also! Be excited and proud you are creating life. Don't let others influence your life. It's not like it will be a secret forever, just a little while 😉

I have a 9 year young daughter. When we were with child everyone asked (of course-even I ask people just bc I like names) but we didn't know why we were having (because we like it that way) and we didn't want any outside influences or opinions. We had a boy name set in stone and had a lot of girl names we hadn't decided between.

We told everyone every time that we just weren't telling anyone. Our families and best friends hounded us like crazy about it and we stayed firm. They found out after she was born and I am so glad they did.

We aren't telling anyone the name we have picked out. I don't want anyone's opinion. However, it's giving my mom a brain aneurism. Lol.

I said yes. But I wouldn't say I get mad, I just enjoy hearing what people name their babies. It's ultimately their own choice whether or not they share.
