help my sister is adopting!

So my sister and her husband are adopting, they have been matched and are waiting until the baby is born to have a real baby shower. However they need some items now like car seat, stroller, sleepers, and clothes for once they baby arrives and to get him/her home safely. Any advice on throwing a shower by mail or something through email that could have family help them purchase the big ticket items usually received at a baby shower? I'm trying to think of a fun way to let everyone know my sister and Her husband are matched and want people to send necessary items as gifts now.
