I'm only 12 but I've had my period since I was 10, lads are getting uncomfortable for me, but every time I try to put in a tampon, it hurts soooo much. I put it in at a 45 degree angle, I make sure that I'm 'well lubricated' but it hurts so much just to put the tip in. Is this normal for my age??

Hi hun. Yes, it's very normal for it to hurt the first few times. Make sure you are buying the smallest size tampon. Take your time and slowly insert it. You can prop your leg up or squat to make it easier. It's going to be a little uncomfortable for a little while but you will eventually get use to it and you won't even be able to feel it anymore. Everything the others said, as well as make sure you are inserting it far enough. Tampons are very uncomfortable if they're not all the way in.

I'm a competitive swimmer and I started mine at 11. My vaginal shape is different than most people, and using tampons was really hard forms at first, but now I'm used to it.
Try using a small mirror so u can see ur vagina when ur putting it in. If that doesn't work have a trusted friend help. That's how I did it the first time

Yeah it's perfectly normal, the first time using a tampon it will hurt inserting and taking it out just make sure you do it properly and use a small size. Once you get past the first couple times of using it, it stops hurting.

Your hymen hasn't been broken yet so that makes sense! I used pads up until 16, but I didn't start my period till I was 14.
