does birth control pills cause breasts cancer?

so my cousin, she found a lump in her breasts, and they are thinking she has cancer.. Breast cancer. could it be possible?

Breast cancer can be caused by a range of things from genetics to just random cell mutations; her finding a lump does not mean it was caused by birth control but I hope she is okay! Breast cancer runs in my family; I know how tough it can be

I don't think it causes cancer but it can raise your risk if your family has a history of it. I'm super cautious since I do. My aunt on my moms side has it and my mom had to have surgery earlier this year on a lump she had in her breast (it ended up being not cancerous but you can never take too much caution)

It does not cause cancer. It does increase your risk for cancer though. Doctors will not recommend birth control with high estrogen levels to women with a history of cancer in their family or already have other risk factors generally because it will increase the risk further. If she's found a lump she should see a doctor immediately. If caught early breast cancer can be treated fairly 'easily' in most cases. It may or may not be linked to her birth control though.

Maybe if the pill has estrogen in it too? Idk for sure but more estrogen in our food has been linked to breast cancer. 
However it's hard to put an actual event to cause it. Regardless you can't do anything about that now. Millions of others are on the pills for most their lives and never get cancer so.
