Cat or no cat ???

Okay so long story short my friends cat had a litter of kittens I have the opportunity to be able to adopt one. Me and my fiance have a one year old Dachshund and we have recently moved into our own place. When I brought the subject up to my fiance he immediately says no, I try to talk to him about it and try to meet in the middle about the situation. He still insists on saying no we're not getting a cat and you know I don't like cats since you first met me. In my defense he knows that I am a huge animal lover I grew up around cats and dogs and I'm always willing to help out a friend or animal in need which is what I'm trying to do in this situation. I left the subject alone for a few days and brought it back up still getting the same answer then I finally told him that this is my house too why can't I have something that I want I told him he doesn't have to deal with the cat he doesn't have to make sure it's fed and litter box cleaned that'll be all up to me. So I told him don't be surprised when you come home one day and we have a kitten and he continues on saying that their stuff is expensive and he doesn't want to pay for it which I have a job to we do say that his money is my money and my money is his money. But I'm still stuck on what to actually do, do you think I should still get the kitten? Should I tell my friend that I can't have the kitten anymore? Please help
