Has this happened to anyone ?

They say "Braxton hicks" but Lastnight I went into L&D; . At about 5 my contractions were 4-5mins apart. I stayed there till about 11 once they decided to send me home because I just wasn't dilating . My contractions were 2-3 minutes apart then , & in so much pain !! They gave me pain med through IV then sent me home ... has anyone else been through something similar ? The meds let me sleep through the contractions Lastnight & this morning I'm still contracting just not as frequently.
