Advice needed!
Hi ladies! I currently formula feed, but have really been wanting to give more breast milk. My daughter is 3 weeks and today I gave her pumped breast milk for the first time in about a week and a half. I would breastfeed, but she's tongue tied so it's hard for her to latch and my LC has been of no help (if any of you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them). I'm trying to get on more of a schedule to pump so I can eventually only give her breast milk. Here are some questions I have:
1. I ate a bunch of spicy foods the last two days along with a pasta vodka sauce that had peppers in it. I told my friend I needed to go pump and she freaked me out by telling me that I should wait 24 hours because I'm going to make my child sick from all the spicy things I have eaten lately. Any truth to this?
2. How often should she get fed on pumped breast milk and how many ounces per feed or just do it on demand?
3. Any truth to staying away from caffeine/chocolate? I'm not a caffeine person at all and a random chocolate person, but figured I'd ask.
Any other suggestions would be great. I know I already messed up by not giving more breast milk from the beginning (she's only had it about 3 or 4 times since she was born) but I really want to get on it now. I know breast milk is the best for my baby. I don't mind any extra advice. Like I said, my LC has been of no help and the majority of my friends formula feed or formula feed and supplement. I need advice from women who strictly breast feed/pump. Anything is greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
