Hope chest?

Had any one started a hope chest even before you conceive? I really want to start one.... what have you bought for yours?

What is a hope chest? It sounds like an interesting idea

I had a hope chest but it was a little different I guess. My mother did one for my sisters and I starting when we turned 15 or 16. It was for our future, I loved it, when I moved out I had pots/pans, cutlery, dishes, glasses and a bunch of other small home appliances and things you would need.

I don't know if it's the same thing, but I have a chest my granddaddy made. When my great grandparents died I asked my Mammie (they were her parents) if I could have that chest granddaddy made and she said yes I could have it. She told me that chest was made for her and as she grew up the things she made (quilts, paintings, clothes, etc) or things that were given to her for her future house and marriage were put in there. They called them hope chests and were given to the girls parents when they were born or the dad made them one when they became of age to start thinking of that. It's in storage and I'm waiting to get it when my mom gets all of her stuff out of storage but I'm going to use it for a toy box for my little girl or a blanket chest...... I don't know if that helps with what you want one for but that's what mine was used for and what I will use it for when I get it back in a few months.
