Am I doing the right thing

After being with my baby's father for two years I moved out in December because he was cheating on me the whole time I tried to be nice and give him chances because he would tell me that he has changed and I loved him in February he has flattened my tires come to my house late-night knocking on my window and my door he would threaten to take my baby I have made multiple police report in May 29 he came to my aunt house and took him did not take anything no shoes clothes diapers nothing I had no idea where my baby was just the city but no address I just got my baby back July 7 and he's already asking to get him back so on yesterday I got a protection order against him but my family said I made a big mistake and that he's gonna be mad but I don't care what he think.
