Butt rash cure?

my son has had a butt rash every since he has been in the hospital and the nurses says its part of being a newborn. its so red that its peeling like a blister. i dont use baby wipes with alcohol or any other fragrance just use warm wash cloth. i have been putting destin on his butt where its red but still do no good. his first doctor appointment is next friday with his pediatrician. he is 1 week old today. i have had his diaper off of him all day to let air hit his red rash. any suggestions on a different cream or a remedy?

BUTTPASTE. A pediatrician had recommended it to us with my first child and we haven't used anything since! This stuff is amazing.

My son had a diaper rash that wouldn't go away and kept spreading until it literally covered his entire body and we figured out he was allergic to the zinc oxide in the diaper rash cream. Once I switched to one without it, we haven't had any problems!

We love "butt paste" and I'd get a different diaper brand if you haven't...

I used bepanthen. I expected diaper rash so I bought a big tube but have only had to use it once :(
Are the nappies too harsh or staying on too long?

That stuff is totally useless. Get Burts Bees diaper rash cream. That stuff is magic. I swear by it. No lie I even put it on razor burn once and it helped soooo much. My girl got a rash so bad it blead, out of absolutly nowhere. I used it everytime I changed her that day and by the day after it was gone

Well Idk if you should try it before speaking to his pediatrician. My sons pediatrician recommended the red butt paste (40% zinc) but my son was older than a week.
