Do you think people not from your country can have an opinion on your country?

Question

After being told many a time "you arent American so you don't understand or you don't get a say" I wondered if this was a popular opinion? 
If I'm commenting on anything American, which is quite a lot as it's fair to say this is predominately American, I make sure I research before I speak and have facts.

People can talk shit about Scotland all they want. I truly don't care because I'm not that insecure 😂. Like, I love Scotland, an opinion from someone living in Sweden isn't going to change that.

Yes people can and should have an opinion and comment on another country, especially if they are allied with said country.  One false move by one country could be disastrous for all of us.

As long as it's not ignorant.  I mean, anyone can have an opinion. But I won't respect someone's opinion unless it's backed up with facts.

Absolutely. In fact sometimes they can provide a non-biased eye. 🤷🏼‍♀️ they should just make sure they have all the facts before saying anything (I'm totally guilty on this one at times 😩)

Of course you can have an opinion.
But to act as if research is comparable to the experiences of one living in a he country is a bit stupid.
Some things you just won't fully understand from an outside looking in perspective. That doesn't mean you aren't allowed an opinion though.

Go ahead,  I'm American,  it doesnt bother me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I've never really thought about other countries enough to have an opinion about them tbh I don't know squat about other countries for real.

If you're in a box that's painted blue on the inside, but red on the outside, you're going to tell outsiders it's blue, but it doesn't change that the outsiders are seeing something entirely different than what you are. Their perspective isn't wrong. 
I encourage other countries to speak up about America. There's a mindset here that is so idiotic it hurts. "You're Canadian don't talk about us", like no she's Canadian she SHOULD talk about us as they're impacted by what we do. Many countries are impacted by what we do. Or "don't like it leave". 
It'd be nice if America would stfu for once and learn from the European countries thriving under democratic socialism instead of trying to be a special snowflake (aw shit I'm using that term). Adopting functional and positive aspects of it doesn't make us any less "Murica", it makes us progressive and a better version of the mediocre clusterfuck we are now.
