Latching after frenectomy??

Just had my 6 week old baby's tongue tie and upper lip tie clipped yesterday morning.

She's still "munching" or compressing my nipple with her jaw to get the milk out instead of sucking and I still feel her tongue on the tip of my nipple.

I've tried to get a deeper latch but even if she opens wide enough, she always chomps down near the nipple instead of creating a suction.

I know the latch won't immediately improve, but I wanted to ask someone who's gone through this...

Does the baby eventually figure out a more efficient/less painful latch on their own, or do I need to somehow retrain her?
