Hymen?

Okay so I just had phone sex with my boyfriend and I had used a (clean, obviously) hairbrush to put inside of me, which I had done before. I'm not a virgin and we've done it several times but when I pulled to hairbrush out there was a lot of white discharge which is normal but a small amount was bright red... Is my hymen just choosing now to break or is it something else? I'm nowhere near my period btw I'm on like day 17...
