early or wait?

Question

I'm graduating a year early this year. so I'll be able to go into college a year early as a 17 year old, or I can wait a year and work up money and go as a an 18 year old. I feel like I should take advantage of the extra time I'm getting and get ahead but at the same time I don't know if it'd be a good idea to go in as a minor. what should I do? btw I'm in a town with a college, so I won't be moving away at all.

I went to college at 17 and got a job as soon as I turned 18 (place down the road from the college - they sold tobacco so I had to be 18). I also was ahead in college due to advanced college credited courses so I graduated early from my first college. I'm younger than most of my friends (I'm 20 they're all 21 and up) and any relationship that presented itself also had a decent age gap. My current boyfriend is 5 years older than me. If you're okay with being the young one, I say go for it. It's harder to wait a year and then go back. (I took a semester off after i graduated from my first college and it was hard finding the motivation to go back/transfer after working more and making more money. Since you're still in "school mode" I would stick with it and go early.

I'd say go now. You can possibly find better scholarships, and if you have nothing else to do, why not? I kind of had the same thing. I started college at 16, so by the time I graduated high school, I had all my core classes at my college done. I thought about taking a year off, but my mom pointed out that some scholarships may not allow students who took a gap year. Ultimately it's up to you.

My sister went in at 17. And I had a couple friends who also went in at 17. Not much of a difference but you do need to check your schools dorming policy if you are dorming. My school does not all minors to live in the dorms so they had to turn 18 before December to live there.
