Ectopic at 6w5d- Methotrexate

Kendyl • One 👼🏼, trying for 🌈 #1. First time would have been mama.

Hi all,

I am so sorry for your losses and am now joining this group because of mine.

I recently suffered an ectopic pregnancy and was given methotrexate yesterday to flush my system.

Has anyone had this injection before and can you tell me what your symptoms were or what to expect? I haven't started bleeding yet which makes me anxious for what's to come.

Hello,I saw your post, and was curious about how you are doing. I had my mtx shots three days ago. Yesterday, I was miserable with some of the worst cramps I have ever had. I hope you are doing ok (as ok as possible under the circumstances). DH and I had been TTC for 2 years, this was our first positive. I am still in shock and desperately trying to find a way to grieve and cope with this loss. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi can I get an update on this please? I’m going through this right now. Did your levels go down your next appointment after the shot?

I was 5 weeks 2 days when I started spotting. I had an hcg level drawn that day and two days later on Saturday which meant I had to wait until Monday to get the results. I never had anything beyond spotting and was optimistic that I was just being paranoid. I found out my levels from my draws were 1256 on Thursday and 1279 on Saturday. I went in for an ultrasound right away. The ultrasound tech thought she saw an ectopic, but my doctor wasn't sure based on the pictures and scheduled me for an ultrasound with him the next day to confirm. That day he couldn't find what the tech saw and thought it was more likely to be a miscarriage, but scheduled another ultrasound with the tech and him on Friday just to make sure. I went in on Friday, and they still couldn't definitively see an embryo, but saw something that could be by my ovary. That and the fact it was Joe tender to the touch prompted the doctor to decide it was most likely an ectopic. I was scheduled for The methotrexate shot that afternoon. My hcg levels were 2180 right before the shot. I really hope they go down on my Friday draw because I really don't want to get another round of mtx. Going back to TTC seems so overwhelming right now, but I hope in the time it takes to get my hcg to 0 and then the 2-3 months to get my folate back up, I will be ready to start again. Good luck to you and your husband (I had my husband get me a heating pad too, it helped quite a bit). Baby dust✨✨

Nonetheless, I am so sorry that you are going through this. It's definitely not easy, but hopefully your partner is there for you... whatever you need. Baby dust to you. 💖
