Hi everyone, I just wondered if anyone has had any experience with antibiotics causing infection or irritation in the vaginal area?

I recently was sick and prescribed prednisone and amoxicillin. Almost immediately after I started taking them, I noticed some soreness and swelling. Well, maybe a couple more days into the medication, my vaginal area was so irritated and itchy I could hardly focus at work!

I don't have an odor or anything down there, but I've noticed an excessive discharge for me (usually white or a light brown like the beginning of a period). My skin down there is also darker than usual. It does not burn when I urinate or anything, but the urine does irritate the actual skin sometimes. It is uncomfortable to wipe.

I've been abstinent for quite a while at this point, and it's definitely not anything sexually transmitted. I only use Dove sensitive soaps anyway so nothing harsh down there when bathing. I tried using cold compresses, vagisil creams, and vitamin e oil. Of those, the vitamin e seems to help the most and provide the longest relief.

Does anyone have any tips on what this may be or how to find relief? I'm not done with my medication and I know you are always supposed to finish the full treatments with antibiotics so I definitely want to get rid of this discomfort. I'd like to try some home remedies and advice first! I feel like I've lived in the doctor's office lately with all the appointments I've had back to back.
