Is this normal?

So last night I got my period. I wore a pad last night and I didn't bleed that must. Today I was wearing a super tampon. After six hours I changed it. But, when I pulled it out it was black. It was so full that blood dripped onto the floor. So I put another one in and changed it after four hours and it was still very full, not black but definitely what my tampon would look like after eight hours with a super tampon. Should I be concerned My period isn't usually this heavy.
