This post is about my dog, please help!!

My dog had an ear infection I took him to the emergency vet. They gave him a medicine called (oti pack g) it's like a cream kinda like wax well his deaf now. I call his name nothing we even walked inside and that didn't wake him up he can't hear anything. I called them they said I guess that's normal and it's supposed to last 7-10 days. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Or does anyone know if this is normal or if I need to hurry him back to the hospital I've been crying freaking out all day! Please help. Google won't tell me anything
