My husband and I have always wanted to adopt and I have come to terms with the fact that I may never be a biological mother. So we are officially starting the adoption process. I've emailed a family attorney and a place called Adoption Assistance Inc., but other than that I have no clue what to do next or expect.

A family friend contacted us and asked if we would be interested in adopting her step-daughter's baby after it's born and I immediately said yes. The stepdaughter is still on the fence if she wants to go through with it or not. We are not getting our hopes up but we want to go ahead and do the home study because we can use it in adopting other children if it doesn't work out with her.
