Birth story of Xander ❤️🐻
So it all started at my 37 week appointment... My entire pregnancy I battled with hypertension and being a plus size woman it honestly felt like the cards were stacked against me from beginning. I had just finished my nonstress test which is honestly so stressful and went in to see the doctor. I never waited very long and it seemed like things were taking a while, I could literally feel my pressure rising. The nurse practitioner came in who I had seen several times throughout and she looked concerned, my pressure needless to say continued to rise. She informed me that she has spoken to my doctor and they decided for my sake and the babies I should be induced since my blood pressure was continuing to be an issue and they really wanted to avoid an emergency c section. I I agreed with her that this was the best decision and sat there patiently with my mind going a mile a minute while she spoke. Although I was a first-time Mom I had plenty of friends who have been induced and knew that typically they like to wait till you were 39 weeks so I thought I had plenty of time. Boy was I wrong she said someone
called me to schedule things for that Friday, I left and called my husband telling him to cancel any plans we had for the weekend. Friday evening I went in to be induced at 7:30pm. As of my appointment on Monday I wasn't dilated at all but to everyone's surprise I had already dilated to centimeters. My doctor inserted a balloon catheter and put me on medicine to soften my cervix. by 2:30 a.m. I was having full-blown contractions the medicine took up to 12 hours to work so I had to wait till 7:30 the next morning to be checked. In the morning they removed the catheter and checked I was 4 centimeters dilated and shipped over to labor and delivery. By 10:30 a.m. my entire family was waiting in the waiting room and my mom and husband were by my side. as soon as I arrived in labor and delivery I was put on a pitocin drip as the amount of pitocin increase so did the contractions. I made it through fifteen hours of labor at this with point no pain medicine but finally decided I needed that epidural. Within minutes someone was there from anesthesia to stick that giant needle in my back. She inserted it and apparently went through a vein needed to take it out and do it again I told her it felt like it was mostly to the left but she didn't listen. My left side of my body immediately went numb she told me the right side would soon follow after. Boy was she wrong my right side never went numb and I experienced hotspot contractions that put me in excruciating pain. After 2 or 3 hours of hysterical tears I finally gave in and agreed to be given a third epidural. at this point everything is bearable and I continued to dialate nicely. My doctor came in to check on me I told her that things started to feel a little bit different she checked and I was 7 cm dilated. She told me she had to do an emergency C-section but would be back shortly with plenty of time before my little man was to arrive. Wrong again 20 minutes later I had push my sons head was crowning and my doctor was still in surgery. The nurse told me to stop pushing as she ran to find someone to deliver my son. she quickly returned saying a midwife was coming to deliver him but I had to hang on. Three pushes leader and his head was out the midwife came in just in time to catch my son and remove the umbilical cord from his neck. A few minutes later my handsome little man was laying on my chest staring up at me and I knew my life had changed forever! Xander J was born on Sunday, July 16th at 1:49 am weighing 7lbs 11oz an itd 21in.
