Ex bf help

Alright so I dated a Muslim guy for a year and three months, we got along great, once I met his family they maid it clear they would not allow they're son to marry anyone outside of their Muslim community. We dated for a while after all that, im not religious so that started to become a problem, I was being pressured to convert to they're religion to be "allowed" to marry they're son. I broke up with him. At first he was very mean and would follow me or show up st my work, finally things we're good and we talked from time to time, but the min he found out I was dating someone he completely changed. He started calling me names etc, he want the watch and the promise ring he gave me (6 months after I broke up with him, and we had agreed to not return any gifts given), im not asking for any of the things I bought him while we were dating.. what should I do? Is it right to give him the stuff or should I just ignore it?

He did hit me once so I am scared to go alone, I don't know how to go about this at all. Any advice helps thanks !
