Anyone from Texas??

ilitary life(Air Force)... my husband and I just found out today our first base will be Lackland which is in San Antonio, TX. I'm freaked out! We're from Michigan and I think I might burn! I'm also kind of chlosterphobic in cities sometimes...I'm 24 and finishing my last year on college so I'll be flying there alone to meet him (I'm scared of flying) when I graduate in May with mechanical engineering. He is going in as an officer and he graduated in computer engineering. 
Anyway I'd love to hear what you love most around the area or even Texas to help me cope! (and prayers to those there with the hurricane!!❤️❤️)

I'm not from Texas. But we're here at Fort Hood. I personally really enjoy TX and we're not even around anything cool. There is so much to do in San Antonio.

I’m not from Texas but my brother is stationed at Lackland AFB (he’s also from MI). He’s been there for a year and a half and absolutely LOVES it down there! I’m visiting him soon and everyones been saying I should check out the Riverwalk and this brewery called Pearl beer.

I'm not from Texas but my husband is stationed out here in ft.sam so we've been here for about two years. It's really hot out here and don't expect snow lol you'll have six flags and sea world close by. We love going tubing it's lots of fun.

I'm not from there, but my boyfriend is graduating from BMT from San Antonio this Thursday. I'll let you know how it is out there!!😄

Lackland and the city of San Antonio is a nice first duty station. Plenty to do but it will be filled with graduations EVERY weekend and tons of families out on the town. However Officers don't stay at duty stations  long. So at a MAX you will PCS every 2-4 years, and as he ranks up it could be more frequently

Native Texan here! It gets hot but this year it seems it’s going to be a chilly fall/winter 70s and below ;) there isn’t much to do around base it’s self but there is in the surrounding areas. Plus you aren’t far from the wine country and it’s so beautiful out there!! It’ll make you feel like you left the country. Just put yourself out there and make friends. We love people so that shouldn’t be hard! Good luck
