First time

So.. I'm sixteen soon and my mum finally spoke to me about sex. She was basically saying that yes I can have sex just as long as I use protection and i find that extremely fair. But my thing is that my boyfriend wants to have sex and I don't know like I want to but I also wanna make sure that I'm not being used.. fair enough we have been dating for a year and a half. I'm wanting to do it its just I have low confidence too so I feel like I'm not up to his standards? Advice please
