Encouraging rolling?

Question

Hi everyone. My 5 month old sits unsupported for 5-10 min at a time but can't roll. He had always hated tummy time and it takes a lot of encouragement. In order to encourage rolling, do you leave a crying baby on their tummy? Or do you cave like me and "rescue" them after a couple minutes?

If your baby doesn't like being on her tummy, just let her be on the mat on her back. She'll have a natural urge to get moving. I put interesting toys quite close to my baby while se was lying on her back. She had to roll over to reach them and that did the trick :)

My 6 mo Hates tummy time so I bought a water fish mat to keep her entertained. It's extended tummy time from 2 min to 4 min 😂

My baby loves tummy time. Hates back time. So still no back to tummy yet. I think he realizes it's hard work and doesn't care to try harder. 😂

My little guy would roll from back to tummy, but then he would get super frustrated when he couldn't get onto his back again. When he would get frustrated and start to cry, I would help him roll his upper body and let him figure out how to get his legs to follow. I think it took him 2 weeks (maybe less) of me helping him roll before he could do it on his own. Hope that helps!

My baby girl(6 months) didn't like her tummy time but once she started rolling a little to her side I'd put my hand on her back and if she rolled more towards her tummy I'd rest my hand where she last rolled until she rolled all the way to her belly. We did that for a little while until she started rolling to her tummy on her own. Now she loves being on her tummy.

My little guy was nowhere near rolling at five months, and two weeks later he's now rolling nonstop. I was always horrible at tummy time, plus he hated it and I would definitely rescue him as soon as he was not happy. I found once I encouraged him to lift his legs up in the air, gravity would roll him onto his side and he just figured it out from there. He only rolls from back to front he hasn't figured out tell me to back yet. Also my little guy is nowhere near sitting unsupported. They are all different and there's no need to worry.

my daughter hated tummy time up until she hit 4 months then she started rolling both ways by herself. in the beginning id let her be on her tummy for 5-10min then picked her up when she started to cry.

following! Mine's the same. He'll roll from tummy to back though, so encouraging him to stay on his tummy or roll onto his tummy is quite difficult!!
