Did I take a test too soon? Is there hope?

I took a pregnancy test 6 days after ovulation and then again the next morning. Both were negative. AF isn't suppose to be here until the 9th. Today I am feeling lots of lower abdominal sharp pains. Not like cramps but more sudden and more sharp... opinions on whether I took them too early or if I'm really not pregnant. I know the best way is to wait to see if AF comes but I'm so impatient!
