My story: the pediatrician told me my LOs mouth ties wouldn't be a problem.
Yesterday, we drove to Corpus Christi to see a pediatric orthodontist who does solely laser treatment on babies with mouth ties. My daughter had ties on her cheeks, tongue, and lip. Her tongue was consider a class 4:

(Picture is not of my baby).
When her doctor saw this, he said "oh it's usually rare when they have a tongue tie like that. Your daughter doesn't so it shouldn't be an issue" Umm what? The nurse at the lactation center is the one who mentioned it to be. She also told me she had one on each cheek and her lip. Sometimes the lip can be dismissed also.

Now, this is issue was and is that she was a "slow gainer". Maybe only 4 oz a week. She wasn't transferring milk fast enough. It has been a damn mess. But no, he kept dismissing it. He actually wanted to see us on October 6th to see if she's "gained" enough in his eyes. I'm canceling that shit. My daughter has gained 3 oz since Thursday. She just got the procedure done yesterday! If someone would have just listened! Just because her tongue tie is considered posterior, doesn't mean it won't effect breast feeding. The dentist said that the back of her tongue cannot lift to like it should for her to efficiently eat. I've cried and cried over not getting her to gain adequately. She born 5 lb 8 oz and was 7 lb as of her 2 month bday. From what I understand, breast fed babies usually gain fast in the beginning. The lactation consultant is someone I feel like I can blame also. She saw me and my daughter twice. At the hospital and at the clinic. She is the one that didn't even notice and told me to put her on formula. It was a nurse that pointed it out to me. (I am sad because she isn't working there anymore!) I did a weighted feed this morning of my daughter. She transferred 1 oz in 10 minutes! It would take her 45 mins to do that just the other day. I'm hoping if someone is going through this will seek out more opinions. If you feel like something is wrong, then there might be. Also, I've been told my latch "looked good".
On different tongue ties:

Or google: Class 4 tongue tie.... that website should be the first to occur.
Also look up info about lip ties if you think maybe it's effecting your breast feeding.
I've always had a gut feeling that something was wrong. Why wasn't my daughter gaining.. why am I not enough.. why do I have to give her a bottle..
I am so happy. Please get a 2nd opinion. Pediatricians do not know much in this area. Also, the procedure is 5-10 mins with a laser.
