first baby after care question!!!

So I keep seeing that women pack pj pants for their hospital stay. For me I did but for the two days after having my daughter I bled so much thats sometimes I would leak. Sorry for tmi!!! But I stayed in the gowns until the day I was discharged. Just because I was constantly sitting or laying and that made the bleeding worse. How the heck do women put pj pants on with gushing and the mesh underwear and of course the big uncomfortable pads. Help me out ladies for my next one. I would love to wear pj pants lol!!! TIA
