My sister...

Allison

I'm not looking for advice so much as a platform to complain (since so few people know I'm pregnant!)

We told our parents about our baby this past Friday-- they are thrilled! Totally on cloud 9 as this is the first grandbaby on both sides of the family.

The next day I called my sister (only sibling) and later my husband called his brother (his only sibling). My sister is older than me (just turned 30) but is rather immature. She is married, owns a home, has a full-time job, and is a charitable person. However, when it comes to me or other peoples' lives, she can be rather... cold.

So I wasn't expecting her to gush, but I was hoping that MAYBE she would be at least pleasantly surprised. Here was the start of our conversation (on speaker with my parents and husband as well):

"I'm having a baby!"

"EW, WHY??!!" (Literally a YELL)

"... that wasn't really a great first reaction."

"Well, at least it was honest! Congrats I guess."

I guess this answers the question of how involved she will be with our child. She was similarly unimpressed when we got engaged.

The good news is, her husband is a totally wonderful person and he texted me a few minutes later, totally thrilled!

Oh well! What a shame.
