Are parties held before or after?

Making invites and my husband asked me a question that stumped me. Our babies 1st bday is on Nov 1st. Which is a Wednesday. I was planning it for Nov 5th on a Sunday and he asked me why not do it on Oct 29th? His reasoning is bc baby will already be a yr on Nov 5th so why sing happy bday  Also since the bday is around Halloween, does it have to be a costume party on either dates?

We’re doing it after because my brother and SIL planned to for everyone to go to my mothers and meet their daughter who was just born Sunday on the weekend before (we all live far away).

Her birthday is November 19th which is a sunday. we are having her party the 18th. her smash cake photos and one tear old photos will be the first weekend of November

My sons 1st birthday is on November 1st also.. we are doing his party on the 29th, because of my husbands work schedule. I just base it off of whatever works best. :)

Our LOs b-day is November 7th, and we're doing the party on the 4th because my cousin is due with her first baby on the 9th. I felt like whether I did it before or after their actual birthday I was risking it being around the time she gave birth. Even if that hadn't been a factor though, I probably would've done it on the 4th, but honestly either way works.

My daughter is the 2nd and we are having it the 29th. That's because my husband works Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5pm-5am the weekend after her birthday.

We’re throwing her party before. Her birthday is going to be on Wednesday, the 15th and we’ll be celebrating on the Sunday, the 12th. Only because her father wont be in town the weekend after her birthday. So it has to be done the weekend before. But it doesn’t bother me at all.
