Staying awake during night feeds?

My son has been home for a week now. During the NICU he was being fed every 3 hours. Now at home, he’s every 2 hours. Only during the night. How do you stay awake during those feeds! I’m exhausted 😔

I didn't... at about a month old I researched safe cosleeping practices and started getting good at side lying. But before that baby had issues so I woke up like clockwork and stayed awake out of pure adrenaline. I'd ask someone to come over once a day to give you a break so basically nurse baby and hand off and tell the person to let you sleep until she gives hunger cues again.

My son eats every hour he’s 5 months old... I just  try my best to stay up ... I know it’s hard . When I breast feed I would pump a few bottles of milk so that when night feedings come I would just grab it and feed baby..

Well I sat on my phone. But it gets easier to stay awake, you get used to the sleep deprivation honestly.

I'm still very much a rookie, haha. My little one is a day old, but last night I browsed around on my phone reading. Maaaaybe that'll work? Of course, nurses coming in every so often made it easier. I don't know how I'll be after a few weeks of this.
