I want to get my boyfriend a promise ring for our one year anniversery, but i lately heard a promise ring is for marriage, and Id like to write out a list of promises of what ill do in the relationship, I feel itll be more thought of rather than just a promise for marriage

My husband and I have been together since we were 16. When we were 17 he bought me a promise ring for our anniversary and it was a promise of staying loyal to me and always be there for me. And we didn’t tell our parents this at the time but it was a promise to get married one day 😅 But i think it can mean anything you want to promise 🤷🏽‍♀️

My boyfriend got me a promise ring for my birthday. It has no deep deep meaning-it’s like the equivalent of him giving me his class ring or something. But he’s in the Army and planning on moving back home to Florida so he promised me that he will eventually marry me but for the meantime, he still promises me that he will always cherish me and take care of me. 
It’s really just personal perspectives.
