FTM having doubts about midwife/birthing center
Hi everyone! So this is my first pregnancy. I have been receiving prenatal care from a midwife at a birthing center in our city and I plan to give birth there. I love the non-sterile environment of the birthing center. I am currently 17 weeks, and the more research that I do, the more concerned I become about certain things. For instance, are there things that a doctor could detect or pick up that a midwife couldn't? What if something goes wrong with the umbilical cord? Or what if baby has a risk that needs to be dealt with by a doctor right away? If I sound clueless, I apologize. I feel overwhelmed by this new world! And I just want my baby to be as safe and cared for as possible.
