Bad parenting or valid argument?

Do you think the saying that 'women are attracted to assholes because they grew up being told that when a boy is mean to them, it means they like them' is true, or do you think telling our daughters that is just bad parenting?

It's bad parenting because it causes her to grow up thinking emotional abuse is okay and means her partner loves her. Unfortunately due to toxic masculinity, society rewards this behavior in men.

I wish people told me "if a boy is mean to you, they don't deserve you". I had some pretty shitty relationships because of the mentality that boys are means to girls because they like them.

This is my first time ever hearing this... I was never told if a boy is mean it means he likes me. Yes I do think telling a girl that BS bad parenting. It sets her up to think it's okay to be in a abusive/toxic relationship. It also is the reason why the whole "good guys finish last" BS is a thing. Because if a guy is nice to a girl she doesn't know how to take it and will brush him off for a jerk if she grows up being told a guy will be mean if he likes her.

Bad parenting and toxic masculinity. 
I was about ready to metaphorically beat a guy's ass for stalking my younger sister. As in pictures of her, somehow finding me and my class schedule to ask about her, getting his classes switched so he was with her etc. 
My grandma? Her dumb fuckery was like "oh sounds like he has a crush!" N. O. NO. THATS NOT HOW THAT WORKS.  Don't teach young women, young girls, to be alright with manipulative and dangerous behavior.

You should not tell your daughter that. And if your son is mean, correct it. That’s what kids have parents for. They can’t raise themselves.
