Am I a bad person?

I met a guy a few months back from class and he’s really cool and all, and we talked a lot but then he started flirting with me. So I sat him down and told him that I don’t date and if he likes me, that he should know that it most likely won’t go anywhere. I told him he shouldn’t waste his time on me because his heart will end up broken.

He told me he understands and that he’s glad I told him, but he insisted on staying friends so I agreed. I reminded him this about 3 times during the course of our friendship. Months later, he liked me even more and asked me to be his girlfriend. I reminded him that I wasn’t interested in getting into relationships and he was heartbroken and really sad and I felt the need to apologize.. but he made it out that I was some sort of bad person for doing this even though I told him multiple times that I don’t want to date. Now he’s cut off communication with me and saying that I’m cold, heartless and mean.
