Birth control pills

I just started ortho tri-cyclen yesterday. I had many people come talk to me before they gave me the pills and they kept repeating that I needed to take the pill at the same time everyday which I knew beforehand. My questions are like I took mine at 5:00 pm if I take it an hour late or a little early or if I forget and don't take it until awhile later would that be a problem?

And when it comes to the sugar pills do I need to take all 7?

Plus has anyone else been on this before?
