Prenatal screen?

Anyone else getting the testing for abnormalities, which can also tell you the sex of the baby, done? We decided to go for it and will know if we’re having a boy or a girl by sometime next week. I honestly do not care if it’s a boy or a girl but Hubby is itching to know (he’s praying for a boy) and it will help us narrow down name choices because as of now, we don’t know where to start. Lol.

yep! got ours back today and it's a boy (and no genetic abnormalities).
I had to pay $100 out of pocket since I'm not advanced maternal age. but so worth it

Hey there! Yep, we did the NIPT (genetic testing that also gives gender) at 10w and 2 days, and just got it back yesterday after 9 days. It has big a huge relief knowing everything is fine, we had to pay $500 for it after Insurance (original cost was over $2000!) but it’s worth every penny to know everything is fine. And to know we have a little BOY! I’d do it again in a heart beat.

My doc recommends it for everyone. I got my results at 10w3d and I’m having a boy’. All the tests were low risk. So excited!

we don't wanna get it bc don't want the baby poked while in my belly. we figure if there are abnormalities it's not gonna make a difference as far as if we keep the baby or not so the risk isn't worth it to us. I understand getting it tho

Yes, I got the NIPTs testing done to check for abnormalities. I wouldn’t have done it if it were just for gender; it was expensive.

I did it at 9 weeks found out 8 days later we r having a girl!!!! so so very excited..btw Ll the testing came back great as well...

I am getting all the screening tests, NIPT and probably amnio also as I’m 40 now. I need to discuss the necessity of amnio if the NIPT comes back low risk.  Not sure if it will be necessary to do both...This is my third baby, my youngest is 8 so the NIPT tests had not been developed when I was pregnant with her so I had an amnio with her. I want to know that the baby I’m bringing into the world is healthy. The early gender reveal is a bonus!

The one I get done is called "Sequential screening" and it looks for the abnormalities such as down syndrome and trisomy 18 but doesn't check for the gender. I am kinda glad that it doesn't because it's more fun to find out at the ultrasound at 20 weeks..at least for me, it is.

I did it Wednesday and will also know my results next week! My doctor tried to fight it saying it wasn’t really a routine screening (gender) but I said I’d foot the bill if insurance doesn’t cover it. How far along are you? I’m 11.6 good luck! Update when you find out
