Am I overreacting?

Question

a good friend of mine doesn't want to come to my wedding because he says he supports me, but not the fact that I'm getting married, and he doesn't believe in love or marriage. I'm very saddened by this and I think my feelings may affect our friendship. Am I overreacting or should I let it go?

Personally, I would be offended. Obviously, he is allowed to have his opinion about marriage, but He's acting like it's going to make him a hypocrite to go to the wedding of people who do believe in love and marriage. My personal thoughts on this are that he's using it as an excuse for some other reason that he doesn't want to tell you. Either he doesn't support you being with your spouse, or he's in love with you himself. That's just my own thoughts about it, we all know that thoughts can be wrong… But that's the general vibe I'm getting here. I mean, that's like me saying I'm not gonna go to anyone's funeral if it's at a church because I don't believe in whatever religion they are. It's bullshit. Ultimately, this is a double edged sword because if you are his friend, then you will have to come to a place of understanding about his beliefs, but that doesn't mean you're not allowed to have your own feelings about it too.
