Any idea what this is on my sons face?

Last Friday before my husband took our kids out into the country to camp my one year olds face was clear. I met them the next morning and his entire forehead and down to his left ear were broke out in these bumps. My husband swears by the time they got to the country or even went into the woods that his face was like that.

Tomorrow will be one week and it hasn't let up. I didn't do anything to it hoping it would go away on its own but it hasn't. Now my 6 year old seems to be breaking out.

It doesn't irritate/itch either of them and we have not changed detergents or soaps or anything. It's fall weather here where we live in the Midwest and it has not been hot. What could this be?

I thought I'd try here before taking them to the doctor and she says it's something I could've totally managed at home. I just bought Benadryl cream to see if that will help although since it doesn't itch I'm not sure what that'll do. Any ideas? Thanks in advance 😊
