Do you know the best way to fight the sugas?

Ashley

Being pregnant, especially if it's your first pregnancy is already a scary time. Your body is changing, your mind is changing and all you want to do is keep everything you can under control. Then the dreaded glucola comes 🤢 and really throws a monkey wrench into things 🙈. You get diagnosed with the 'betes and all of your pregnancy carb cravings of pasta, ice cream, cookies and potatoes get thrown out the window. You feel betrayed by your own body and slip into a deep deep carb deprived coma until delivery 🤣 Well, I am here to tell you it doesn't have to be that way! I want to preface this by saying, the further into your pregnancy you get, the more insulin resistant you will become until that 👿 placenta comes out. Also, what worked for me may not work for you but I am not asking you to do anything that will harm you or your babe, so why not give it a shot? Tip #1 food journal 📒- Keeping track of how your body and your blood sugar reacts to certain foods will help you make better choices. Example: White toast with butter = 190 vs. Wheat toast with peanut butter= 120. Tip #2 Exercise🏃🏼‍♀️- This helps your body burn off extra glucose, which will lower your post-meal readings. Not only that but it will help you keep your weight gain down, make labor and recovery easier and reduce your risk for developing diabetes later on in life! It can be as simple a stroll after meals, yoga, pilates or a combination of cardio and strength training. I have access to pre and post-natal workouts that helped me take me stick it to the sugar! As a physician assistant and new mom that had GD I just want you all to know it isn't your fault you have it and it also isn't the end of the world. Let me know if I can help you or if you have any questions🤗
