How do you punish your teenage son?

My almost 14 year old went crazy lastnight when he got caught out whipping his 8 year old brother (hit near the eye) he immediately got his defenses up & started to lash out. He has had anger issues in the past, and to be honest it scares the shit out of me, not only our safety but his own. So how do you discipline your teenage son?

I would get him into counseling for anger issues.  He wont like it, pretty much guaranteed but it’s better to tackle this head on. I think id cut out electronics/video games and ground him as well.

I had a lot of anger issues as a teen and pretty much from 13 upwards, best thing my grandparents could have done for me was put me into anger management & counselling. It sucked at first but now in my adult years I'm so thankful for it

Take things away. You can unhinge his door if you must. He can earn it all back, but he can lose it again. the lord giveth and the lord taketh away.

The anger issues are not in the past, he needs to continue to see someone to learn techniques on how to handle it. Talk to him about things, that conversation may be of more value than any punishment.

I highly recommend therapy(with a therapist that is trained primarily in adolescent developmental psychology). It might not actually be an anger issue, it could be something else entirely. 
Another tried and true method of dealing with adolescent outbursts, is to enroll them in an intense team sport. It teaches them not only cooperation skills, but also respect for their peers, and elders. It is also a great outlet for aggressive energy, which is a very common trait in teenage boys.

You all need professional help with him and he may need to also be on medication. Sounds like impulsiveness and defiant disorder put together. But I am not a professional just a parent. I would do something now before it leads to getting into trouble with the law. The situation is past grounding it is serious to physically put your hands on someone. He is acting violent towards others not ok.

I'm dating a teen-age boy with anger issues, and I've known him to lash out, but I've never seen or heard of him hitting anyone, let alone his younger siblings (who drive him nuts). He took Martial arts when he was younger as an outlet and now has a group session at school where he and other students work on things (I'm not sure if that's to help with anger issues, Aspergers or both, but it seems to help him). Try to get your son into counseling and find an outlet for him. As for punishment take away electronics, and everytime he lashes out add a day without them.

My son is 9 so I haven't had to deal with a teenage boy yet but one of my nephews is 15 and he is a handful. Very disrespectful to his mom and dad and has hit his younger brother and sister on more than one occasion. He has since been sent to military school so he can get his act together. I think if my son was a teenager and was acting out if he had a phone I'd just take it or take away his game or something he really enjoys and not let him go out to fun events with friends 🤷‍♀️ I haven't cross that bridge yet so I'm sorry I can't be of much help.

I have a 16yo son and to be honest, we've never really had any issues. From the start, he's known who the boss is - ME. If he is disrespectful, taking his phone away is the most effective punishment.
