Would you punish your child if they got into a car accident that was their fault?

No backstory on this one other than hearing that a local high school had 14 accidents in the parking lot involving teenagers on the first day of school. Went on Facebook and saw a lot of moms arguing about punishing the kids. One said it was cruel to punish the kid by taking away their car for a while if they understood why, another said it'd be stupid not to punish them, another said she'd have a firm talk with them but no punishment, etc.

The children in this scenario are fine, but because of the accident your insurance rates are going up and you might owe some money for damage. Your child is the one at fault for whatever reason.

So, would you punish them, and if so, what would the punishment be?
