Bassinet or No Bassinet?

Question

I have a friend offering me a really nice bassinet for cheap. It's a solid wood Eddie Bauer one, it's super nice and barely used. My worry is that because our room is so small it wouldn't fit very well and that maybe a halo bassinet or something similar would be better but I also don't want to waste money on something that I'll only get a few months use out of? Idk FTM here so I'm at a crossroads!! Opinions?

Have you seen a halo in person? It's actually really big and has a large footprint. If space is an issue look at the jolly jumper stand and Moses basket.

I always take the free route. Baby stuff is SO EXPENSIVE. I personally feel the Halo bassinet is overrated. I bought a used $20 bedside bassinet, bought brand new bedding for it, and am completely in love. I'm putting the money I saved towards a better car seat.

If it was me I'd probably go with the free one. As you say, it'll only be needed for a few months so you wouldn't have to deal with the crowded space for a terribly long time. (Of course, if you mean your space will be so crowded as to be practically unusable, then it would probably be smart to look at other options!)

they also sell mini pack and plays that have a bassinet attachment! might also be a better option for you!

FTM as well. My husbands mom bought us a bassinet even though we plan to have a nursery with a crib. 
But we will have bassinet in our room probably for just the 1st month. After that get a baby monitor and put the baby in the crib in their room.
