In today’s time with online applications, do you think it’s still appropriate to call to check on a status of an application?

Even if the website tells you not to.

Even if you’ve worked for places that always tell potential hires that “we’ll call you”

When I was younger and took a job course in high school. They have always told me to call to check because it shows you’re interested. When I started working a boss told me he doesn’t like when people call because it can get borderline harassment.
