What am I doing wrong ?

My 14 month old is only interested in watching cartoons and playing . Like if she isn’t watching cartoons , she’s busy playing with blocks and stuff . 
Many people telling me “ oh your kid should be talking by now “ “ she should be saying a lot of words “ “ something wrong with her because she doesn’t talk all she does is play and watch tv “ 
She babbles a lot saying dadaa dadaaa most of the time , and other things too but baby talk or she screams most of the time, lol.
They also said stop making her watch tv or that she doesn’t talk because she watches tv ... 
are they right ? 
It’s not like she watches tv allll day, but she does for a good amount of time during the day.

At a year they should say Mama and Dada and babble a lot. They should also understand what you say and follow very simple directions (like no, stop, pick up the ball, etc). 
By 18 months your child should have at least a 10 word vocabulary (not including Mom it Dad). 
Personally, I’d limit her tv to a few short shows a day. Maybe one at breakfast, lunch then dinner times and just music in between or no tv at all. 
To encourage them to talk try reading books, labeling body parts (find your eye, belly, foot, etc), sing simple songs, and constantly label everything and reward them for repeating (want your milk? Say milk. M-m-milk.) Narrate your whole life and ask questions (mommy needs to change you, let’s get a diaper, do you want an apple or an orange today?) 
Language develops differently for every child so just encourage her and be patient. If you suspect any delay bring it up to your pediatrician and go from there.

Tv has been noted to delay speech in some studies, I would cut it out entirely and work on more sensory learning and interaction. See if your pediatrician has recommendations

kids all develop on their own times. talk it over with your pediatrician. I don't know what milestones should be hit at that age but if your ped isn't worried then let her come into her own! I do remember my daughter didn't walk till after a year (she's 14 now). she was just lazy lol.

I nanny for my 14 month old niece 45 hours a week and she babbles mainly. she does say dada a lot, or "Oh", but not talking. I've been her caregiver for almost a year at the end of next month. Most of what I've learned is they don't fully start carrying on conversations in fuller length until they are 2. They should have some more words in their vocabulary by 18 mo. NO - it is not abnormal and your baby is fine!!! Whoever is saying that to you may not remember when their kids started talking if their children are grown...or they haven't had any (and maybe they have cobwebs in their pussy!!!) <---joking...kind of. I don't think it is healthy to have them watch tv all day, but some limited time may be okay...talk to her doc about that.                                                                             I had a step son when I was married who was delayed, but his father let him play computer and video games all day (for like 8 hours a day - literally), it was kind of disgusting. And you couldn't carry on a conversation with that kid to save your life - really frustrating. So...dont do that!

My nephew will be 3 in November and only babbles like that. They're just now getting concerned about it. Talk to your daughter's doctor and see what they say.
