Progesterone Shots?

Question

Hello everyone! My son was a preemie so my doctor wants me to start taking progesterone shots starting at 16 weeks. 
Has anyone had these before? Are there any side effects? Also how long after you stopped getting the shot did you go into labor? 
The specialist said there are no side effects but I like to hear from people who have actually had to get them.

I have also been getting them since 16w bc my last son was a preemie.  I must say they are working wonders!!! I am 29w3d today and still working, long and thick Cervix and no side effects!! My Doc has me getting them until 36w. I must say the shot goes into your buttocks and isn’t pleasant, but it is what it is and I wouldn’t not do it. I’m just incredibly thankful to be able to not be on bedrest and still working so I can have as much money as possible when I’m on leave.

Are you guys administering yourselves? Or going in biweekly for the shots? I’ll be on them as well, starting at 16 weeks.

I'm on the oral pills and so far no side effects

I'm not taking the shots but my OB prescribed progesterone pills that I have to insert vaginally every night as, apparently, they are absorbed very well there lol. So far no side effects...

I’ve been on them since 20 weeks.  I get nauseous for the first couple days after every time.  Will stay on them until 36 weeks.

I go to the doctor weekly to get my injections since 16 weeks. I am now 30 weeks. Had my first at 31 weeks. I've had no side effects other than my hip would be a little sore for the night but nothing major.

Hello I’m 16 weeks exactly I started my shots two weeks ago due to previous preterm babies I have no side effects just hurts when I get it I also Had a Cerclage put in at 14 weeks went well only downside is no sex 😩😩😂😂 But I will manage I want my daughter to get here safe and healthy I’m super excited about her my first daughter But I will be fine no worries just pray about it everything will be just fine 🙌🏾🙌🏾😊😊

I am on them with this pregnancy and was on them for my last as well. Week 16-36. I find they burn a bit when the medicine is going in and the injection spot itches and bruises and I get a lump for up to a week and a half after the injection.

I got them with my last pregnancy. I was one of the rare people who had harsh side effects. From about 4 days after each shot until the next was due, I would drop into a depression and I couldn’t sleep at all. The injection site itched and burnt every time. The positive though was that I carried to 39 weeks after having my previous son at 34, so they did work. I stopped them at 35 weeks and didn’t deliver for another month.

Well I've been gettin them since 16w and I'm now 26w I have no major side effects except pain where injected and more emotional the first 3 days after! I delivered my first at 34w so I'm hoping the shots hold me off till 36w
