If they end up believing, it's a really nice introduction to the community. If they don't, well then they got some water splashed on their face as a baby. Big whoop. They can still switch religions or choose not to believe. I don't see harm.

Mine will not get baptized until they can choose for themselves. I am not going to indoctrinate my children into any religion

We have a tradition of doing it around 6-12 mo.

I don't understand baptism before the child can make the decision for themselves to follow Christ. Not that there is any harm in that, and I think its a great way for families and the community to celebrate their little ones. I just don't really think it's a baptism until the one being baptised understands what they're doing.

I don’t believe in baptizing children. There is no biblical precedent for it. Baptism is for those who can actually repent of their sins and give educated consent to be baptized and understand what it means. My daughter will be baptized as soon as she’s old enough to fully understand what it means and what it represents (anywhere from 5 years old on up), if she ever even wants to be baptized. It’s a very personal decision.

We baptized our son when he was 2 months old. I'm Catholic so its tradition to do it fairly early in their life. When he is around 14, he renews his baptism vows to be "confirmed" into the church faith. My husband has never been baptised but we decided that we would raise our children by my faith until they are 18 and out of the house.

We did when my daughter was 9 months old. To me, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a choice in her religion but it is seen as a welcoming into a community.

While it’s only a splash of water on the face, the intentions behind it are purely selfish when done on an infant I believe. So while it won’t harm them, I still see it as being wrong and something done only for the parents beliefs with no concern for the child and the action in my eyes, shows no thought for the child’s potential to choose their own beliefs 🤷♂️

I don't believe infant baptism accomplishes anything, so no. When they are old enough to understand and decide for themselves, they can be baptized then.

I have an issue with the religious part of it. My MIL wants to baptize my kids. She believe its needed to get into heaven. And she says she believes god would allow her to do it. My issue comes with why would you want to worship or serve a god who would condemn. Child and innocent child to hell all beachside of not having water on their head? I believe it’s a choice one needs to make.
